Abbott And Costello About

Minimalism may be old by now, a product of the late eighties that came on the tales of postmodernism. Opulence is sometimes the style in Texas and the Retro-contemporary style of the seventies is the new fashion in Miami.

Clean lines and open space are still considered a sophisticated look no matter what label you place on it. Having less in a room allows your eye to linger on the objects that are present in the space. For example, a wall which has only one piece of art on it can be striking or luxurious. How will you know if this spare look will suit you? You can try a one week minimalist experiment:

Try this experiment!First, remove all the artwork, clocks, plates, and memorabilia from one wall.Second, place the items on the floor.Third, stand in front of the wall, chose one item and secure it to the wall.Next, immediately take all other items into another room. Finally, walk away for ten minutes and return to view your new look.

For the next week you will experience living with the look you have created.

If you feel a great need to have the space filled or long for your memorabilia you can return the items as they were. However, see what happens as you return one or two pieces. Most likely you will still decide to use less, and have established a little simplicity in your life. You will end up with the Goldilocks factor - a look that is, “Just right”.
